We sponsored Dr. Mykhailo Lovha at EANS and had the opportunity to interview him regarding the state of neurosurgical care in Ukraine and our ongoing missions to support their people and neurosurgical services.
Dr. Grigorian flew to Poland and crossed the border into Ukraine. Crossing the border into Ukraine can sometimes be complicated. Dr. Grigorian borrowed a van and added labels to assist to with the crossing. The mission trip involved meeting with Dr. Lovha at Saint Nicholas Hospital in Lviv. WSM provided neurosurgical implants and instrumentation.
We discussed the neurosurgical needs and determined that ICU nurse training is the most immediate need.
Dr. Robinson, Dr. Grigorian's mentor and dear friend, had Dr. Grigorian on his show, Observations, to discuss the first trip to Ukraine.
This was the first trip to Ukraine shortly after the war broke out in February 2021. The goal was to provide as much neurosurgical instruments and implants that Dr. Grigorian could personally carry.
